Hemodynamics
Rate Pressure Product Calculator
Heart rate times systolic pressure, an index of how hard the heart is working and how much oxygen it needs.
Formula
HR * SBP
How it is used
- RPP = HR × SBP, a bedside index of myocardial oxygen demand.
- Rate and pressure raise demand together, so in ischemia aim to lower both: treat pain and anxiety, and use beta-blockade when it is not contraindicated.
- There is no fixed normal: follow the trend in the same patient.
