Static Compliance Calculator
Lung and chest wall stretchiness with no flow (tidal volume over plateau minus PEEP); falls in ARDS, pulmonary edema and pneumothorax.
Formula
Vt / (Pplat - PEEP)
How it is used
- Normal static compliance in intubated patients is 50-100 mL/cmH₂O.
Decreased Compliance (< 30 mL/cmH₂O)
Indicates stiff lungs or chest wall. Causes include
- ARDS
- Pulmonary fibrosis
- Pulmonary edema
- Pneumothorax
- Abdominal compartment syndrome
